California-Inspired and California-Made. That's SoLA.

New gift line SoLA comes with a particularly L.A. angle. Not only is the collection primarily made in L.A.—its founders hail from L.A.’s architecture, fashion and gift industries.

Created by architect Barbara Bestor, fashion and lifestyle publicity Sara Stein and product development specialist and manufacturer’s rep Karen Alweil, SoLA bowed today at Designers and Agents at Los Angeles Fashion Market.

SoLA—an acronym for Sister of Los Angeles—launched with a collection of ceramic mugs, trivets, desk accessories, iPhone covers, chocolates, hats and key chains, and leather accessories such as clutches, card cases, wallets, coasters and guitar straps. All bear an original design by Bestor--a 3D geometric paternt hat spells out L.A. Additional items, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, totes and glassware, are planned for launch later this summer.

Bestor is the founder of Los Angeles–based Bestor Architecture and the author of the 2006 Harper Collins book “Bohemian Modern: Living in Silver Lake.” Before launching SoLA, Stein was co-founder of S. Public Relations (previously known as SPR), the fashion public relations firm that put on one of the original Los Angeles Fashion Week events, Audi Presents L.A. Fashion Week. Alweil is the founder of Karen Alweil Studio, a national sales representative organization for gift and lifestyle products with a permanent showroom in the L.A. Gift Mart.
