Levi’s Creates New E-Commerce Role

San Francisco–based denim giant Levi Strauss & Co. has created a new position to oversee e-commerce business and retail operations. The company promoted Joelle Maher to fill the role of executive vice president and president of global retail. Maher is responsible for the company’s e-commerce and retail operations, including company-operated, franchise and outlet stores.

Maher joined Levi’s in 2007 as vice president and general manager of U.S. retail and was promoted to senior vice president, Americas retail, in 2009. She led the acquisition of most outlet stores for the company and consistently drove growth in retail operations, according to a company statement.

Before coming to Levi’s, Maher held leadership positions at Lucky Brand Jeans, Old Navy, Macy’s and Lord & Taylor, with responsibilities including merchandising, outlets, online, and planning and allocation.

As one of the world’s largest apparel companies, Levi’s continues to expand its focus on e-commerce. The company currently ranks at No. 365 in the Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide, an analysis of North America’s 500 largest e-retailers based on annual Web sales.—Deidre Crawford
