Book Highlights Los Angeles as a City of Style

Everyone knows we're a city of stylish people. Now someone has chronicled exactly what makes L.A. fashionistas so unique.

In a book called "City of Style," Melissa Magsaysay dissects that look into various chapters that include trends such as romantic bohemian, glamour, skater and surfer, rocker, chola style, indie eclectic and casual chic.

Magsaysay, the former West Coast fashion market editor for "Women's Wear Daily," and a former writer for the "Los Angeles Times," interviews various fashionistas about their look, tells you where to buy that look and then gives you a how-to guide on how to put it all together.

One of the highlights of the book is that one of our very own former editors, Erin Barajas, now a producer for the Kingpins denim trade show, is featured for her indie eclectic style. She is seen on page 125 wearing a pair of Max Mara print pants that were handed down to me by a fashionista friend. I in turn handed them on to Erin knowing that she would know how to make the pants look truly au courant on her skinny frame. She paired them with a light pink linen blazer.

If you are a Los Angeles fashionista, or a wanna-be fashionista, this book is for you.
