Henri Bendel to Open at Westfield Topanga

Iconic fashion accessories retailer Henri Bendel developed a collection of private-label goods in 2005 and since then has been building boutiques to sell Henri Bendel handbags, jewelry and other accessories. The newest boutique will open July 20 at the Westfield Topanga mall, located 25 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Westfield Topanga will be the fifth Henri Bendel location in California. Other Henri Bendel mall shops in the state are at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Westfield Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara and Fashion Valley mall in San Diego. The company has been scouting retail space in San Francisco, too.

“We’re as ready as ever to roll out stores in the continental U.S. and Canada, which is our intention for the next few years,” said Chris Fiore, president of Henri Bendel, which is a division of Limited Brands, the owner of Victoria’s Secret.

As for the new Westfield Topanga, Fiore said, “The co-tenancy is fabulous. There’s great real estate and a great customer.”

Henri Bendel will move into a space adjacent to a Burberry boutique and also will be located directly below an Apple store. Topanga also is the address for stores such as Neiman Marcus, Salvatore Ferragamo, Brandi Melville, Destination Maternity, Gap, H&M, Love Culture, Victoria’s Secret and XXI Forever.

Like other Henri Bendel mall stores, the Topanga Henri Bendel store will be filled with 100 percent Henri Bendel product. Much of the Topanga store’s interior architecture was inspired by Henri Bendel’s legendary three-story shop on New York’s Fifth Avenue. There will be marble floors and a lot of free-standing brass fixtures.

Retail price points are aspirational and affordable, Fiore said. Handbag prices range from $200 to $600, and jewelry prices are $78 to $300.—A.A.
