Malibu Dream Girl Name Change Kicks Off Re-branding Effort

Beginning June 1 swim maker Malibu Dream Girl Inc. will be known as Malibu Design Group and the company will kick off a re-branding campaign that will highlight its growing portfolio of brands and technological developments.

“As we step into the next decade, we look forward to a new progressive vision, which includes more growth, like our recent acquisitions of Dotti Cover-ups and the swimwear license for Maidenform, as well as in the technology arena,” said Malibu Design Group President Henry Fan.

Among the changes to Malibu Design Group are new headquarters in Los Angeles and a new showroom in New York, which features state-of-the-art technology and areas to highlight each brand. The showroom’s conference rooms feature high-definition videoconferencing capabilities, allowing the company to work with its partners around the world.

Malibu Design Group is also launching sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives, including cloud-type computing for “anytime-anywhere communication through mobile tablet devices.” In addition, Malibu Design Group’s sales team will go paperless, using tablet computers to show the lines and access files.

At the upcoming Miami Swim Show in July, Malibu Design Group will incorporate this environmentally friendly mobile initiative in its new trade show booth, which will offer buyers “an interactive modern shopping experience.”

“While we embrace a modern new name and attitude, our values and standards will remain the same,” Fan said. “We will continue to provide high-quality products and exceptional service, on which we have built our reputation.”

Founded in 1982, Malibu Design Group produces swimwear and coverups for women, juniors and children under more than 40 brand names sold in department stores, retailers, and specialty stores, including Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Belk, Bon-Ton, Lord & Taylor, Sears, QVC, Von Maur, Forever 21, The Buckle, Tilly’s, Urban Outfitters, Wet Seal, Diane’s Swimwear, Maui Clothing Co. and Pilar’s Beachwear.

Last year, the company acquired the Dotti Cover-ups brand and the swimwear license for Maidenform.
