LA Fashion Week Spring 2013: Project Ethos

This season, Project Ethos moved downtown and teamed up with Downtown Los Angeles ArtWalk for its Oct. 11 Los Angeles Fashion Week presentation. The result: a party that spilled beyond ExchangeLA, the venue where Project Ethos was held, and into the surrounding downtown neighborhood.

For the fashion lineup, Project Ethos featured three runway shows, along with a musical performance by The Charlies, DJs and art installations.

Runway presentations included Galeana’s color blocked and layered pieces; girlie looks with rock 'n' roll flair by Mariala; pastel, preppy tailored pieces by Linden; and bold graphics, color blocking and undies by men’s line Nine. Footwear line B. By Apirire showcased its sculptural creations, as well.Aria balanced a full spectrum of Indian-influenced dresses with a few simple black bikinis, while Beso Moda played with proportion, texture and surface detail for eveningwear. Lawren Michele accented pastel and neutral separates and dresses with pops of color and piping, and Collective26 mixed bohemian and sportswear influences in a pared-down collection of separates and swimwear. Goorin Bros. closed the evening with a runway show featuring a few styles from its hat collection for men and women.—Alison A. Nieder
