Quiksilver Launches Outdoor Fitness Line for Roxy

Now the Roxy girl will have a new clothing option for her active lifestyle.

Quiksilver, the boardsport and activewear parent company of Roxy, rolled out an outdoor fitness category for its Roxy label, sold to teenage girls who like surf-oriented apparel and accessories.

The outdoor fitness category is for girls and women who are into paddleboarding, hiking, running, volleyball, yoga and other outdoor sport activities.

“We are excited to offer a new fashion and performance product category that encourages and enables girls to be ready for their daily adventures,” said Susan Branch, Roxy’s general manager, in a statement.

The line will include sportswear, accessories and footwear made specifically for outdoor fitness.

The clothing will have UV sun protection, water-repellent fabrics, soft flat-lock seams for reduced chafing, quick-drying fabrics, four-way stretch, zone-mesh ventilation and moisture-wicking fabric.

The collection will debut for Spring 2013 with retail prices that range from $24 to $108.

Quiksilver, based in Huntington Beach, Calif., has been challenged in recent years by increasing competition and bad investments that have resulted in net losses for the last four fiscal years. In 2008, it sold its flagging Rossignol winter-sports equipment division for $147 million, less than half of what it purchased it for in 2005.

For fiscal 2011, ending Oct. 31, the company reported a net loss of $21.26 million on $1.95 billion in revenues.—D.B.
