All Quiet on Rodeo Drive for Fashion's Night Out

Rodeo Drive at 6:30 p.m. on Fashion's Night Out

Rodeo Drive looked practically deserted for Fashion's Night Out. It paled in comparision to the previous two years when the luxury shopping thoroughfare was blocked off, food trucks were brought in and a huge Ferris wheel dominated one end of the street.

This year, the Rodeo Drive Committee decided not to spend money on organizing a formal event, instead focusing on ice cream sundae events during the next three Sundays in September. The committee left it up to individual stores to do their own thing. Most of the stores had a subdued Fashion's Night Out. Chanel was rolling out three nail polish and three lip colors. Bally was serving wine and introducing its new ballet flat that sells for $425.

The scene at the Guess store

The big action was over at the Guess store where the retailer celebrated the evening in full force. The display windows had live male and female mannequins showing off the latest Fall fashions.

Inside, it was wall to wall people sipping champagne or sparkling water, munching on cupcakes and getting pictures taken in front of a big backdrop. There were also mini-manicures, make-up lessons and a DJ rolling out the tunes.

Guess wins the prize for the best Fashion's Night Out on Rodeo Drive.
