Saint Laurent Music Project

French photographer and designer Hedi Slimane premiered his Saint Laurent Music Project, a portrait series featuring musicians Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon, Ariel Pink and Courtney Love on Dazed Digital today.

The campaign, in customary Slimane black and white style, draws “on the relationship between rock icons and the house since its earliest days, the killer move being the artists’ style themselves in its seasonal and permanent collections to create an image of their own expression.”

The Yves Saint Laurent fashion house has been synonymous with the arts since its inception when Monsieur Yves conceived Le Smoking – the women’s tailored tuxedo suit and democratizing fashion with the invention of the ready-to-wear collection.

Slimane is no stranger to the music industry, having clothed David Bowie, Franz Ferdinand and Mick Jagger, referencing music in his own pieces and working alongside some of the most admirable creative types.
