Los Angeles is lucky to have an artist like Kesh Kumari around. The East London native is a digital wizard, who started out designing clothing for well known hip hop artists such as Dizzee Rascal continuing into the art world, where her work was featured in i-D Magazine and later, served as fashion editor at SuperSuper Magazine.

Kesh also hones in on a signature look - all black everything with patent leather, form-fitting outfits, Doc Martin boots and two top side buns –a mixture of goth, new wave and industrial, all executed in a clever and forward way.

The multi-talented artist is also a DJ and has utilized social forums such as Myspace to gain a fan base where she sold limited edition tee shirts, with musicians like Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco who recognized her talent early on.

Kesh designed a collection for Topman’s MAN and shortly after transplanted to New York City. In 2010, she set-up an artistic dwelling in Los Angeles, also known as the cave, where she explores the juxtaposition of black and white imageries, combined with graphic mediums and unconventional shapes, manipulated into self portraits much like the late Frida Kahlo but in a modern way where digitization is highlighted.

A few months ago, Kesh held her first independent show ME.ME.ME in Los Angeles, exhibiting 14 signed and framed 40x52 self portraits. In true visionary fashion, the art show was broadcast live on the Internet where viewers and fans could participate.

Just recently, Kesh announced, via Twitter and Instagram, an exclusive, limited edition collection with American Apparel. The men’s and women’s collaboration will be sold internationally in Los Angeles, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Seoul. Stay tuned for a release date.
