Fullerton, Calif.–based Dragonfly Clothing has inked a deal with Fender Guitars for a line of apparel that will bow at specialty and department stores in North America and Europe this summer.

Dragonfly’s Fender Clothing Co. line will be “inspired by Fender’s rich music history” and will feature dress shirts, work shirts, terry fleece hoodies, laser-print microfiber shirts, denim, leather outerwear and T-shirts.

Dragonfly plans to incorporate Fender’s more than 60-year history into the collection, which will feature offset stitching and music-themed details on fashion blanks, as well as bold prints and elaborate embroidery.

“Dragonfly’s initial design concepts and attention to detail were fantastic” said Jeff Quinn, Fender licensing director. “Its reputation of being able to translate music into fashion is well-founded. The Fender brand is so established in popular music culture that it means different things to different people. So, whether you’re a musician or music enthusiast, this collection will have something for you.”

Under the direction of founder Edward Dada, Dragonfly’s mix of rock ’n’ roll and fashion has been worn by rock stars such as Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister and Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, as well as Bill Clinton and Hugh Hefner, according to the company.

Christopher Wicks, owner of DaVinci Clothing and founder of English Laundry, previously held the Fender license.
