LAFW Fall 2013: Elliot Evan, ODA and Wayward Installations

Elliot Evan, ODA and Wayward presented Fall 2013 installations at Concept LA Fashion Week on the rooftop at Siren Studios in Hollywood, with an open area overlooking the cityscape.Designer Elliot Evan presented his Fall 2013 menswear collection in a theatrical setting. Models were draped in blood after what appeared to be a mock motorcycle accident or a hard night of partying.

With all drama aside, the pieces were cleverly executed, featuring asymmetrical zipped jackets, loose-fitted collared hoodies and black skinny trousers.Sam Adegoke of Wayward designs drew inspiration from his love for motorcycles. He has been riding since he was 14 but never felt motorcycle apparel had style and safety that came together.

Adegoke presented nine looks, including tops, bottoms and leather jackets. All of the jeans have a kevlar lining and are abrasion-resistant on the knees and the back pocket of the hip, where a rider would typically injure oneself. Kevlar is commonly used for military fatigues and bulletproof fabrics, Adegoke said. This is “a collection for the everyday man, but the rider will have a particular love for it,” Adegoke said. The moto-inspired jackets are padded on the shoulders and elbows for extra safety but still maintain a vintage understated, cool look.

ODA presented a whimsical line for men and women, including embellished pants, satin dresses with rhinestone capes, and studded tops that came in pastel hues and shiny finishes. The men’s garment was a bit more understated with an ombre blazer featuring pocket zips and streamlined pants.
