LAFW Fall 2013: Nikki Rich

Nikki Rich debuted its Fall 2013 collection on March 9 at Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week at Siren Studios in Hollywood.

Designers Nikki Lund and Richie Sambora presented pieces that could easily fit into an equestrian’s field of dreams or a military’s fashion haven.Models wore twisted braided up-dos to accent the dramatic looks, including structured jackets and blazers, ruffled silk blouses, two-paneled riding pants, punk-influenced checkered trousers, and draped dresses, most of which were accessorized by thigh-high boots.

There were 30 looks altogether, but standout pieces included an auburn short suit set with a tweed woven front jacket, as well as a black and white Ikat-print poncho and a long, vegan-leather skirt that translated a Western feel.“I referenced art terminologies into my work, so you see wax, prima, prisma and canvas—these are all textures used that tied into my theme,” Lund said. “I used a lot of vegan leather and silk, but the silks are all washable, making it very affordable and piece driven,” she continued.

Most pieces retail under $100, and a leather jacket is priced slightly higher, at $245.
