Six Degrees of Retail Separation

Last October singer Adam Levine launched his menswear collection at Kmart.

Now, his women's collection for summer debuts at Kmart on April 10. The array of clothes and accessories is on the casual side with bright prints. There are kimono tops, colorful twill shorts and an assortment of denim.

The Grammy-award winning artist, who has been a coach on the TV show "The Voice" since its inception in 2011, has a lot of background in the apparel industry. His father, Fred Levine, his mother, Lisa Levine, and his aunt, Mardi Fox, are the forces behind the M. Frederic retail chain of high-end stores.

Price points at the M. Frederic stores, located in Southern California, are much higher than Levine's Kmart line. Adam's Kmart collection of womenswear is selling for $12.99 to $29.99.

M. Frederic sells Wildfox blue jeans for $238 and Free People dresses for $148.
