Banana Republic Looks to California for Spring Collection

If you like the color beige, you might like the new California collection that Banana Republic is unveiling in a big ad campaign in March and April for the Spring 2014 season.

There are lots of beige jackets, dresses, chinos, shirts and sweaters, which are a nod to the modern-day adventurer and the origins of the early Banana Republic stores when you could find garments worthy of an African safari.

Unlike the traditional Banana Republic array of clothes that often seem more suited for work than play, the California collection has a casual but sophisticated feel to it, more out-and-about styles whose colors make you think of California's deserts. The easy chic looks are for those who like their chino pants, their khaki trench coats and their utility jackets.

The ad campaign will carry the theme of "True Outfitters," and celebrate everything that is true to people such as relationships and style.

Banana Republic, whose parent company is Gap Inc., is following in the footsteps of its sister retail chain the Gap, which returned to its denim, khaki and T-shirt roots for its Spring collection.
