The DL Pop-Up: Notes From a Designer Blow-out

Tony Pas spent a career selling off-price fashions, but after buying more than 30,000 designer garments in a bank foreclosure sale, he opened his first retail venture, pop-up shop The DL. DL stands for designer liquidation, and it is located at 132 – 134 S. Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills..

Pas and his team have unloaded men’s and women’s looks from fashion houses such as Armani, Balenciaga, Gucci, Dolce & Gabanna as well as Ralph Lauren Purple Label, said Scott Cotter, who is working at the shop. “We’re constantly discovering new things,” he said about the warehouse of designer fashion that Pas acquired.

Just from the Dolce & Gabbana pile, there’s a motorcycle jacket that looks like something from the futuristic 1981 movie Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. There’s a shirt bearing drawings that are a bit reminiscent of the great artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. There’s a Euro-looking Gucci leather jacket, featuring a fur applique that would look at home in a cowboy bar.

The merchandising mix also offers a lot of suits, overcoats appropriate for the office and formal occasions as well as casual wear. Much of it is priced more than 50 percent off. “The whole store is on a blow-out sale,” Pas said.

It is open from 10AM to 6PM every day. It opened on Dec. 23. It will close when they sell out of clothes.
