Columbia Sportswear Reveals Uniforms for Olympic Freestyle Skiers

Not to be surpassed by Nike, the Oregon company Columbia Sportswear recently unveiled the tech-savvy uniforms it designed for the freestyle ski teams from Canada, the United States and Russia.

The teams will be wearing them at the upcoming Olympic winter games in Sochi, Russia, this February.

The uniforms were custom-designed for each country, from the ground up. Each uniform has some great high-tech features that are already incorporated by Columbia in its sportswear that is in stores for the average customer.

At the heart of the uniforms are Columbia's patented omni-heat thermal reflective technology that delivers warmth without too much bulk. (I'm sure the people back East are wishing they had one of these right now.)

Other features include Lightrail zippers, which are flexible laser-cut zippers bonded directly on to the fabric eliminating the need for zipper tape. This makes for a lightweight, water-proof zipper.

Then there is the snow camouflage pattern in the exterior fabric that helps mask body movement for mogul skiers, which is carefully looked at by judges. You must keep those knees together to get high points.
