LA FASHION WEEK FALL 2014

Michael Costello

The Fall ’14 collection of “Project Runway” alum Michael Costello took a bow on March 10 at Style Fashion Week, and Costello found inspirations for the 20 look show in diverse themes, such as New York City winters and Priscilla Presley’s wedding dress.

The white in the collection was inspired by fresh snow powdering New York’s graceful parks and giant skyscrapers. The bell sleeves and sheer crepe material of Priscilla Presley’s 1967 wedding dress influenced the look of the line, as well as the costumes of 1967 film “Valley of the Dolls.” With these inspirations, Costello hoped to build a unique juxtaposition of a free, flowey look mixed with a hard and constructed styles.

The also offered many gowns in red including the “Julia” gown; a crimson, strapless dress with a built-in corset, made out of duchess satin
