Everyone talks about buying American-made clothes and other goods. But where do you find them?

A new website based in San Diego launched this week to help with that movement. American Brand Project was set up to help consumers buy American-made products - from clothing, pet supplies and beauty products to food, beverages, and home and garden goods.

The site was founded by Andrew Henderson and Christian Mouritze who want to see small businesses in the United States grow. A number of clothing stores are on the site, including Rising Sun, a blue jeans line handcrafted in Los Angeles. Other clothing brands include Finley Shirts out of Dallas, All American Clothing Co. in Ohio and Ujena Swimwear from northern California.

Each brand is given an ABP "Buffalo Rating" to help consumers evaluate the "Americaness" of the brand.

To be featured on the website, you have to make your product in the United States. Enrollment is free. The website takes a 5 percent commission on sales.

A few years ago, a website based in Los Angeles was set up to sell only clothing made in the United States. It was a project started by Noelle Nguyen, and it is still going strong. That website is American Love Affair.
