Style Fashion Week kicked off its Spring 2015 runway shows on Oct. 15 with an epic 76-look production by Sue Wong. Wong, a veteran Los Angeles couture and eveningwear designer, reached to the world of fantasy for the collection’s theme: Fairies & Sirens. According to the show’s program, the theme represents something of the yin and yang in every woman.
The fantasy lent itself to the show’s looks. Models wore headdresses which ranged from minotaur like-horns, Chinese opera-like crowns to fascinator hat-like headpieces bearing flowers. Fairies & Sirens looks ranged from ball gowns with soutache embroideries, short dresses with jeweled fronts, beaded embroidered bodices with pleated embroidered skirts, long V-neck gowns, and a black/gold long slip gown with vintage beading.
Before the show, Dave Navarro and Vincent De Paul, an actor, presented Wong with Style Fashion Week’s Tiffany Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Womenswear Design.
