What first began as a goof is now an Internet sensation and …a capsule collection by pop-culture provocateur Brian Lichtenberg. Let’s go to the goof first.
Helen Ruth Van Winkle, an 87-year-old Kentucky grandmother, was photographed wearing a loud tie-dye shirt and cut off shorts by her granddaughter Kennedy. The photos found themselves on Twitter, and like so many other inspired images - it went viral.
Fast forward to this flipping minute and Helen Ruth is now Baddie Winkle. The octogenarian wears outrageous clothes on an Instagram page and a Twitter handle and has fans like Miley Cyrus.
Lichtenberg put together a capsule collection called Baddie Winkle x Brian Lichtenberg, which features T-shirts, caps and other styles bearing graphics with the shared humor of Baddie Winkle and Brian. There was a party for the capsule collection at Kitson on West Hollywood’s Melrose Avenue on Nov. 5. Baddie Winkle wore Brian’s raver clothes from head to ankle. Whoo-hoo!
Next up, Baddie Winkle was scheduled to fly for more events in her honor in Las Vegas and Toronto. Brian said that he was going to fly to Tokyo to produce a pop-up shop for his fashions.
