Tokidoki Celebrates 10

A grim reaper character – but cute!

That’s what Simone Legno was drawing more than a decade ago. He made an imaginary world for the cuddly grim reaper, his name is Adios, and his companion, a cute, female grim reaper named Ciao Ciao. With a backdrop of super cute friends – think unicorns, Godzilla-type monsters and flying diamonds, Adios and Ciao Ciao went on adventures.

The fun world became a brand called Tokidoki. Its headquarters was Los Angeles. It runs boutiques selling the brand’s T-shirts, jewelry, vinyl toys and anything else that could be imagined. A line of high profile groups partnered with Tokidoki to do collaborations. Taking the Tokidoki stage includes names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Major League Baseball, Barbie, Onitsuka Tiger, Hello Kitty and Ju Ju Be just to name a few.

On Nov. 5, Legno and Tokidoki co-founder Pooneh Mohajer celebrated the 10th anniversary of Tokidoki at The Well boutique and events space in downtown Los Angeles.

“We were an underground brand,” Legno said of Tokidoki’s origins. “Now it’s time to bring it to the next level.”

Said Mohajer, “There is a lot of depth to the brand. We are a design house and we have collaborated with entertainment properties and fashion brands. There’s something for everyone.”

Happy 10 years Tokidoki. Check out the party.
