Oliver Goldstick, the showrunner behind “Ugly Betty” and “Pretty Little Liars” is developing a new series for Amazon and BBC Worldwide. And here’s the kicker: The show involves French haute couture in the years following World War II.

According to Variety, “The Collection” tells the story of two brothers at the center of a “an illustrious Paris fashion house, emerging from the dark days of the Occupation, now ushering in a new golden age of design and business.”

Variety quotes Goldstick as saying the story is “set in a pivotal moment in history, where fashion served as the ultimate vehicle for transformation and re-invention.” It sounds more like the sophisticated soapiness of “Mr. Selfridges” and “Downton Abbey” than the broad comedy of “Ugly Betty.”

Shot in Wales and France, the eight-part series will begin filming in January.
