Pobega’s Goodbye Berlin

Valerj Pobega produced a Dec. 7 show for her Spring/Summer 2017 collection. There was no runway. No fixed place to see models wearing the looks for Pobega’s limited collection Goodbye Berlin, which was inspired by the bohemian looks of films such as Cabaret.

Rather members of the Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre troupe put on kinetic vignettes on different spots at the Eric Buterbaugh Gallery located near Los Angeles’ Beverly Center. They wore Pobega’s silk dresses which came in colors such as dusty pinks and greens. Some of the dresses bore hand-made fringes. Pobega also painted on the silk fabric, marks which made the limited pieces “wearable art,” she said.

Dovetailing with the Cabaret theme, The Buterbaugh Gallery was lit in dark shades for the night. But the night was clear enough to view the surreal art of Mattia Biaggi, which will remain at the gallery until Jan. 2.
