Where fashion gets down to business

A fashionable and well-connected crowd gathered to celebrate the latest crop of graduates from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s advanced fashion design and advanced theater costume design programs. In addition, guests got a look at Chairing Styles, FIDM’s design project in which fashion design, textile design and interior design students collaborate to create a coordinating chair and dress made with original fabric.
Among the notables in attendance were the California Fashion Association’s Ilse Metchek, the Cooper Design Space’s Steve Hirsh, L.A. City Councilmember Jan Perry, Karen and Lonnie Kane, and FIDM alumni Estevan Ramos, Yotam Solomon and Nick Verreos, who helped pass out scholarships to the students. There were also representatives from Chico’s, Bloomingdale’s, Bebe, Mattel and Perry Ellis.
