The scene: Celebrity manicurist Melissa Bozant and image expert Serese Teate joined forces with Ladies of Distinction Inc. and the Inglewood, Calif., chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority to host a fashion fund-raiser and toy drive to benefit children with sickle cell anemia.

In addition to raising funds, organizers collected more than 600 toys to be donated to children with sickle cell disease.

Ladies of Distinction is a 45-year-old nonprofit humanitarian organization founded to “enhance and enrich the lives of youth and adults through national and community-based programs and projects.” The group supports a variety of philanthropies, including the National Council of Negro Women, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the UNCF.

Styled by Kendrick Osorio with assistance with furs by Aurelio, the Dec. 17 runway show at Smashbox Studios featured elegant gowns and suits by Kevan Hall and furs by Edwards-Lowell of Beverly Hills. Shoes were supplied by Michael Antonio, accessories were provided by Caldwell Sutherland Designs, and Milani Cosmetics provided the product for the models and the beauty bar. —Alison A. Nieder
