The scene: Sometimes party talk turns into an excellent party. Last fall, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, inspired by his daughter’s love of fashion and a recent trip through the Los Angeles Fashion Market, casually offered to host a cocktail party for the fashion industry. On a perfectly balmy afternoon, a mix of fashion designers, celebrities, tastemakers, stylists and editors gathered at the Getty House, Villaraigosa’s residence, to take him up on the offer.

Organized by Designers and Agents, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the Los Angeles Times’ Image section, the Los Angeles Times Magazine and Earth Pledge, the event included a fashion installation by 17 designers, including some notable locals and D&A exhibitors. The designers used sustainable fabrics sourced from Earth Pledge’s sustainable-fabric library to create looks that reflected their aesthetic without sacrificing style. Participating labels included Bahar Shahpar, Binetti, Deborah Lindquist, Erica Tanov, Hazel Brown, Imitation by Imitation of Christ, Magda Berliner, Organi, Rozae Nichols, Skin, Stewart + Brown, Suss, The Stronghold, Tree, Trina Turk, Trovata and VPL.  —E.B.
