Mayor Villaraigosa Opens L.A. Market

“The world knows L.A. as the entertainment capital of the world,” Mayor Villaraigosa said. “Today a different breed of star is stealing the spotlight.”
Guests included buyers and industry notables including California Fashion Association Executive Director Ilse Metchek, L.A. Fashion District BID Executive Director Kent Smith and Councilmember Jan Perry.
“The local fashion industry is finally emerging as a world leader,” the mayor said. “The L.A. fashion industry is no longer just the design capital of the West Coast; it is one of the design capitals of the world.” —Alison A. Nieder
