Tampa, Fla.-based Tropical Sportswear International Corporation, which markets and manufactures branded and private brand men’s and women’s casual and dress sportswear, has announced that it is in the due-diligence phase of its possible bid to acquire certain wholesale- and licensing-related assets of Simi Valley, Calif.-based Bugle Boy Industries, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection...San Francisco-based Macy’s West, a unit of Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores Inc., was a recipient of a public service award at the 49th annual Retail Advertising Conference (RAC), held Feb. 14–16 in Chicago; the award recognized the company’s support for the annual Passport fashion show and gala, which benefits AIDS research; other RAC award winners included Minneapolis-based Target Stores, which won the Best of Show trophy for its “Pop Art” print and TV ad campaign, Houston-based Men’s Wearhouse, which won the Innovative Television Retailer award, and Little Rock, Ark.-based Dillard Department Stores, which won a Newspaper Association of America-sponsored award for expert use of newspaper advertising.
