Designer, T-Shirt Maker Join Forces for 2 Love

Matt Schwartz got up close and personal with Kristi Kaylor long before the two joined forces to create novelty Tshirt collection 2 Love.

The T-shirt maker is engaged to Kaylor, who previously designed junior swimwear for Sunset Beach, a division of Los Angeles–based Authentic Fitness Corp. Before the two teamed up, the line was missing something, said Schwartz, who noted that Kaylor adds a fun yet serious quality to the line.

The collection offers two groups: screen prints and novelty embellishments. The screen-print group comes in 14 styles, including marrow-edged T-shirts, three-quarter-sleeve T-shirts and tank tops featuring retro screen-printed logos. Graphics include phrases such as “Cocktail Lounge” and “No Cover or Minimum Charge.”

The novelty-embellishment group includes satin and cotton tank tops with butterfly and flower appliqueacute;s and velvet contrast stitching on the arms and necklines. A black tank top sporting satin flutter sleeves and a flower appliqueacute; with tiny wood-bead embellishments is rebellious yet feminine, while a white tank top with a crotchet flower appliqueacute; featuring embroidered stems and flower petals is clean and delicate. Shirts come in blue, brown, pink, white, black, red, olive and asphalt.

With wholesale price points ranging from $12 to $24, 2 Love’s first shipment went out to select Nordstrom department stores last June. The company expects the line will have roughly 100 accounts by the end of the year, Kaylor said.
