The California Consumers’ Sentiment Index, which measures California consumer sentiment about the current economic condition, rose from 72.2 in the first quarter to 81.8 in the second quarter of 2003, according to the Anderson Center for Economic Research at Chapman University. But the Consumer Sentiment Index for the second quarter was about 11 percent lower than the 92.7 Index registered during the same period last year.
