Friday, March 19, 2004

“Latin Elegance,” a fashion show and fund-raiser highlighting the works of Latino designers, will return on April 3 to the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in downtown Long Beach, Calif.

Los Angeles–based designer labels Louis Verdad, Susana Mercedes and Cantu & Castillo will show their latest collections at the black-tie event, which will include cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and a multimedia fashion presentation. The director of the museum, Gregorio Luke, will give a special presentation on the history and evolution of the guayabera shirt and how it has become a staple piece in men’s fashion.

The event is part of MoLAA’s “Latina Women of Achievement” program for Spring 2004. The museum will present achievement awards to U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez and U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez.

Tickets for “Latin Elegance” are $150 per person. For more information, call (562) 437-1689. —Claudia Figueroa
