Levi's Shutters Little Rock Site

Friday, March 10, 2006

San Francisco–based Levi Strauss & Co. will close its distribution center in Little Rock, Ark., and eliminate 340 jobs by the end of 2006. The company said more than a quarter of the workers at the facility will be eligible for early retirement under Levi’s policy. Phil Marineau, Levi’s CEO, said the company will consolidate the work done at the Little Rock distribution center at the company’s other distribution centers around the country. Levi’s has been slowly closing its smaller distribution centers since the mid-’90s, when it began consolidating its distribution network into three large technologically advanced distribution centers.
