L.A. Fashion Week Spring '07: Jennifer Nicholson

Friday, October 27, 2006

Punk-rock princesses and mod ingeacute;nues took to the catwalk at designer Jennifer Nicholson’s Spring 2007 show Oct. 17 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif. Tough-girl touches, including a black patent-leather trench and a bustier paired with wood grain–print leggings, gave way to pink polka-dot bubble dresses.

Bubble shapes showed up in sweet and street styles. Black silk covered in oversize pink and white roses was fashioned into a strapless bubble mini dress and paired with thigh-high latex stockings. A white V-neck dress covered in pink polka dots featured a subtle bubble hem. Volume was also found in trapeze mini dresses and blouses with puffy sleeves. A trippy white-and-black swirl mini dress with puff sleeves stood out from the collection.

Quirky prints wove through the collection. Tree-trunk stripes, eyes, lips, cartoon foxes and birds all found themselves on the collection of dresses and tops. —Erin Barajas
