Santa Monica, Calif.–based Hippie Ink has rolled out a new series of green-themed T-shirts made with organic cotton and organic blends and featuring environmental messages such as “Hug a Tree” and “One Planet.”

The novelty shirts come in various cuts and colors and average $35 each (wholesale). They feature prints and message detail with foil finishing. Designer Jennifer Ashley said she was inspired by children’s concerns for the planet.

“My daughter was asked in her kindergarten class what she would do if she were president, and she said she would not cut down any trees,” Ashley said. “That inspired me.”

Other new designs include street-inspired leopard prints, butterfly prints and retro rock art featuring hippie girls.

One of the shirts was worn by Marlee Matlin during an episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
