Ruthie Davis Talks High Heels and Houses in the Hills at Kitson

Dressed in a knit tank, summery shorts and super-high heels, N.Y.-based shoe designer Ruthie Davis is fitting right into the L.A. lifestyle at Kitson.

Shoe designer Ruthie Davis said the high-low brand mix at Kitson was the perfect retail platform to showcase her line of sky-high heels, which are simultaneously sexy and fun with neon colors and over-the-top stud details. “I love Kitson. It’s very colorful, playful. It’s like a kid in a candy store, not taking things too seriously,” said Davis, who showed her eponymous Fall collection at the Kitson store on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood last night.

New York-based Davis has been enjoying the California lifestyle during her stay and refueling on inspiration at her favorite SoCal places. On a recent run to the top of Benedict Canyon, located north of Beverly Hills, she soaked in the scenery of homes tucked away in the hills.

“I feel it’s very sexy the way the cars curve [on the roads around] the hills. It’s a hidden feeling. In New York, everything is exposed. I love that you’ve got these amazing houses and cars and then raw nature,” Davis said.

Given the sharp heel details and modern design lines of her shoes, it’s no surprise that the stark architecture and glamourous Old Hollywood home décors abundant in Palm Springs make the desert a must-visit as well. “My favorite place in the whole world is Palm Springs. That’s where I go to get inspired.”

The towering heels festooned with studs and spikes got the most attention and close-up inspection from the party guests.

Pops of neon for the girl that doesn't need her shoes to double as a weapon.

Though not necessarily seen in this crowd shot, trust us, the stylish guests came out in their hottest and highest heels to greet the designer.
