ASR Fashion Society

SAN DIEGO—This season’s ASR fashion show emphasized swimwear as a focal point with clothing items styled over bikinis and monokinis for those times when you are coming or going to the beach.

The fashion show, titled “Fashion Society,” ran Aug. 13–14 in the new La Plage swimwear section of the trade show and featured key companies from the ASR Marketplace and its subsections, La Plage and Class@ASR.

For the skate and motocross fans who love brands such as Volcom, Fox and Insight, there were black tight jeans, cut-offs and vests worn over bikini tops suitable for tough girls at a loud rock concert or BMX dirt-bike show. Brands rooted in surf—such as Rip Curl, O’Neill, Lucy Love and Rusty—had a free-spirited, beach-coverup vibe. Silhouettes were loose in transparent, oversized tops that fell off the shoulder and empire-waist maxi dresses.

Colors were bright, crisp and vibrant in floral prints, stripes and abstract brushstrokes seen in swimwear and coverups. Washes that looked as if the fabric had been faded by the sun gave denim a worn look.—Rhea Cortado
