Increases in Attendance, Exhibitors at Off-Price

JCPenney, Ross Stores, Costco and Florida-based retailer Bealls were among the increasing number of merchants shopping at the Off-Price Show, which took place at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

The show experienced an 8 percent increase in vendors and a 3 percent increase in attendees, according to Don Browne, a spokesperson for show producer Off-Price Specialist Center.Along with bigger crowds, Browne noted, the category of footwear had increased in popularity. He said more buyers sought out footwear than women’s styles at this market.

Burgeoning demand for off-price goods lead to the show’s producers looking for bigger digs. For its August 2010 show, Off-Price will move to Sands Halls A and B, where the Project Global Trade Show was held before it moved to Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

However, getting into that show might be tough. The Off-Price Specialist Center also announced that over 80 percent of the exhibition space for the next Off-Price Show has already been booked.—Andrew Asch
