Billabong's Fourth Annual 'Design for Humanity'

The surf crowd, music fans, hipsters and celebs collided at a massive block party on the New York set of Paramount Studios. It was all part of Billabong’s fourth annual “Design for Humanity” event, held on June 10.More than 3,000 revelers enjoyed the fashion-music-art extravaganza, which included a runway show with Billabong’s one-of-a-kind ’80s-era surf-inspired bikinis. The event drew the likes of surfing legend Tom Curren, Billabong freesurfer Keala Kennelly and “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier.

Attendees enjoyed live art installations, tasty eats from the Grilled Cheese truck, and live performances by Kid Sister and electroclash duo Fischerspooner. There were also pop-up stores offering limited-edition products; a VIP street; and a custom-art exhibition, held in partnership with the Carmichael Gallery.

And it was all for a good cause. Proceeds from the event benefit Invisible Children, an organization that raises awareness and funds for families affected by the war in Uganda.—N. Jayne Seward
