Japanese retail Uniqlo is out to conquer California.

This Friday, June 19, it will open the doors to a new 10,000-square-foot store at the seaside Santa Monica Place shopping center in Santa Monica.

The second level store will be right next to a Hot Topic store and along the pedestrian route that leads to the top-level ArcLight Theatres.

Uniqlo had a pop-up store there that opened nearly one year ago. That was so successful, they decided to go permanent.

On Saturday, the store will be giving away tote bags filled with goodies. At noon, KIIS-FM will be doing some in-house blasts until 2 p.m. and then there will be a Taiko College Drum Battle between several universities, including USC, UCLA and California State - Northridge.

Sounds ear shattering.
