...Periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue into
Saturday...
A late-season atmospheric river will continue to bring periods of
moderate to heavy precipitation to northwest California through
Saturday morning. Storm total rainfall amounts from 3 to 5 inches
are expected, with local amounts up to 7 inches possible along
windward facing slopes.
Expect periods of moderate to heavy rain from this afternoon into
tonight as a warm front stalls over the area and a cold front
moves into the region. Precipitation will taper off on Saturday
as the weather system pushes east toward the interior. However,
there will still be lingering showers over the coastal mountains
of Del Norte and Humboldt Counties on Saturday.
Small stream flooding is possible by this evening. In addition,
mainstem rivers are expected to experience rapid rises tonight.
Some rivers may reach monitor stage. The river levels will remain
elevated through Saturday. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts.
