Japanese necktie manufacturers are lobbying their government to enact tight import controls on neckwear to limit the import of inexpensive Chinese-made ties.... The Mexican economy continues to grow, despite expectations that the country would see a downturn as news of the slowing economy in the U.S. spread; the economy in Mexico is expected to grow three times faster than the U.S. economy, according to a World Bank study...The American Committee for Shenkar College recently honored three of its alumni at a fundraiser in New York; designer Alber Elbaz; Arthur Levine, chair and CEO of Kaspar ASL and the Anne Klein Group; and Stephen Rubin, chair of or Robert Steven Holdings PLC, are also graduates of the textile school based in Ramat Gan, Israel.
