I.L.U. Introduces New Missy Collection

In an effort to build a missy category, Los Angeles-based junior sportswear manufacturer I.L.U. has launched a new division called Infusion by I.L.U.

Nearly a decade ago, I.L.U. was known in the junior sportswear market for its sleek and slender-fitting polyester pants. With Infusion by I.L.U., the company hopes to introduce retailers to new trends, this time in the area of missy apparel.

Infusion by I.L.U. is a bottom-driven line that combines some of the same fabrics found in its junior collection with the latest styles for misses, while adding a junior edge.

Infusion by I.L.U. sales director Julie Polinsky will oversee the line. Polinsky said the line would be modeled after the company’s junior collection, with better fits for women between the ages of 25 and 35.

“This line is really exciting,” Polinsky said. “We feel it really gives the missy customer a reason to shop. It’s something she doesn’t already have in her wardrobe.”

The 50-piece collection includes three types of fabrications: stretch twill, stretch denim and matte jersey. Wholesale price points range from $9.75 for a pair of capris to $18.75 for a pair of stretch-denim pants.

The updated missy collection debuted at August market in New York, and initial delivery will begin Oct. 31.
