Consumers Spent $6.1 Billion Online in December

Nearly 20 million households shopped online in December, spending an average of $308 per person, for a total online outlay of $6.1 billion. Approximately $502 million of that December total was for online apparel purchases, according to a survey by the Washington, D.C.-based National Retail Federation and the Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research, conducted in conjunction with Wilton, Conn.-based Greenfield Online.
