Fashion's Next Wave: American Intercontinental University

The past, present and future were represented during American Intercontinental University’s Fusion fashion show, where graduating design students lived up to the show’s name by displaying a mix of retro, classic and cutting-edge looks. This year’s event, held at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, featured sections titled Happy, Dark Sky, Renaissance Moon and Let ’er Rip. Highlights included Crystal Allen’s retro vests, Elaine Pittman’s short satin tops and Elyze Aguero’s halters. The judges, however, singled out Kelli Lee’s eclectic designs as being the most creative for the show, while Jasmine Park was named most technical and most marketable of the students. Industry awards were presented to Allen and Park by Vecchiarelli Bros. and PAD System Technologies.

Judges included Carol Sachs of Carl Sachs Textiles, designer Cynthia Vincent, Andy Wilkes of Syren, retailer Elizabeth Mason, stylist Machelle Scott, editor Barbara DeWitt and director Kim MacColl. —Robert McAllister
