California energy consumers—customers of Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric and Pacific Gas & Electric, plus municipal customers in Vernon and Pasadena—were temporarily without power as high temperatures pushed demand past peak limits...Southern California port traffic will slow in the face of a flagging economy, according to a report released recently by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. (LAEDC); two-way trade is projected to grow by 2.8 percent to $236.5 billion this year, compared with last year’s growth of 16.7 percent, according to the LAEDC’s International Trade Report; exports are tapped to grow a scant 1.5 percent to $78.8 billion, while imports are projected to increase 3.5 percent to 157.7 billion... Chino will be home to a new, larger Nordstrom Rack, the off-price retail division of Seattle-based specialty retailer Nordstrom; the company plans to move and expand it’s existing Nordstrom Rack in Chino Town Square to an 810,000-square-foot space in Spectrum Towne Center in spring 2002.
