Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring 2002: Pacific Coast Travelers

Casual California living seemed to be the style of the moment at the Nov. 4 Pacific Coast Travelers Spring 2002 runway show held in the California Mart lobby.

A few dozen retailers attended the show to get a view of the latest trends for the missy market. What they saw were carefully designed leather skirts and pants by Meacute;nage A Trois by Kippys, tapestry jackets by Ton Ton/Patricia Wolf and Carol Anderson Collection’s silk and linen separates that were well-received on the runway and could prove to be valuable staples for Spring.

The show included offerings with stripes and polka-dot prints, as seen in the Joseph Ribkoff collection, as well as animal prints by Nancy Bolen for City Girl. And loose-fitting casual sets with Asian prints by Xiaoyan, Meng Design and Vortex (which presented a Miro-inspired kimono set) found their way onto buyers’ must-have lists.

Other notable fashions on display included Chantik’s butterfly jacket with wide pant leg and a platinum organza evening dress by Interlude. —Claudia Figueroa
