New Nostalgia: With The Band

With The Band’s novelty T-shirts emblazoned with vintage photographs reflect the rock ’n’ roll spirit of the label’s name, according to owner Felicia Arlin, who worked at Fashion Destination, Paris Blues and Chaya before creating her own line last spring.

The junior line, which bowed last June at New York market week, showed at Las Vegas’ MAGIC International in August.

The line offers more than 60 bodies in several categories, including a black-and-white film series group (featuring embellished stills from classic films), a “1960s Peace” group (with slogans such as “Ban the Bra”), an “Age of Innocence” group (featuring vintage photo graphics from the 1930s reminiscent of an old Frank Capra film) and a sportswear group made up of stretch fleece.

The line has already attracted attention from national retailers including Dillard’s (which recently purchased more than 14,000 units), Charlotte Russe and Girlfriends catalog. Wholesale prices range between $6.75 and $17.

With The Band has a showroom at 1411 Broadway in New York City’s fashion district as well as one in suite A-339 of the California Mart. For more information, call (310) 271-9185. —Claudia Figueroa
