Paragon to Distribute Porini Software

Apparel industry software provider Paragon Business Systems, based in Westlake Village, Calif., has reached an exclusive agreement to distribute Porini of Italy’s suite of apparel and textile production management software in North America.

Porini is a member of Blue Fox Enterprises N.V., a publicly traded company on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, and offers a full Enterprise Resource Planning package that manages an operation from the creation of a fabric to a finished product through distribution. Included in the Porini package are textile and mill shop floor and plant management modules. The alliance will bring a group of almost 500 people, in offices in 14 countries, as resources for customers and projects.

Paragon’s Peter M. Jennings said the deal will give the Paragon platform self-sufficiency as Porini accommodates the AS400 and Windows NT platforms while Paragon’s GO system handles UNIX, Oracle and Windows 2000. One of the other advantages Porini’s product will give Paragon customers is that it can handle apparel and footwear collections.

“This alliance makes us the largest and most integrated solutions provider focused on the sewn, footwear and textile industries,” added Paragon president Ken Gould. —Robert McAllister
