Gerber Expands in China

Gerber Technology recently opened its 14th sales and service office in China, with the latest site being in Nanjing, located about 100 miles west of Shanghai and home to numerous apparel and textile manufacturers.

The company also plans to open offices in Dongguan and Ningbo by the end of the year.

Gerber is represented in China through its own offices in Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shishi, Wuhan and Hong Kong and by agents/distributors in Beijing, Dalian, Zhuhai and Macau.

“Next year marks the 20th anniversary of Gerber’s presence in China,” noted Steven Tang, regional vice president of Far East and Pacific, who added that Gerber now has more than 900 customers operating over 3,000 systems and workstations in China.

James Arthurs, executive vice president of Gerber, said new offices will be based in centers where most of the company’s customers are located, noting: “We currently serve more than 40 customers in Dongguan. An office in Ningbo will enable us to be more attentive to several prominent customers we have there. It will also provide additional resources to help smaller companies in the area begin to automate their operations and improve their profitability.” —Robert McAllister
